Get to Know Nick Ross
Who am I?
I was born in Marinette, WI and graduated from Neenah High School in 2004. Thanks to public education I became the first person in my family to go to college, graduating from Columbia University in 2008 with a degree in English and Comparative Literature.
Since moving to Appleton after graduation, I have worked at some of your favorite downtown cafes and restaurants, Goodwill Industries, and now as an advocate for LGBTQ+ victims of crime for Diverse & Resilient.
I serve as the Vice President of Friends of Appleton Public Library, and I have been continuously involved with local advocacy and organizing efforts around racial justice. I believe none of us is free until we are all free.
My fiance is an amazing teacher in our district. We are getting married next summer and we hope to raise children and send them to AASD schools.
I love our community, and I’m committed to working to make it better for all who live here.
Why am I running?
My connections to resource providers in our community — including homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, mental health resources, and more — will add a holistic perspective to the Board when considering the challenges faced by our students and families.
